It’s been a while since I have written a blog but I thought this tip may be useful to all of you Mac junkies who use Terminal frequently. Occasionally, I find myself hitting Command + Q, which mistakenly closes the window after a long day in Terminal. I usually have 4-8 tabs running a mixture of development or sysadmin tools. You can imagine my reaction after executing Command + Q!
The Solution
Open the Terminal preferences, navigate to Settings and select your Default profile. Under the shell tab you will find “Prompt before closing.” I have mine set to Always, as I never want to lose my work. Alternatively, you can also use a list of programs that won’t prompt you, while programs not listed will still cause a prompt. Hope this Mac Terminal trick has helped make your life easier!
